About: This is a two-banded anemonefish "amphiprion bicinctus" in symbiosis with a magnificent anemone "Heteractis magnifica". Unlike the other species, the anemonfish (or clownfish) are not sensitive to the anemones tentacles urticant effects. These anemones, thus, offer to the clownfishes, who became very popular thanks to the cinema, an effective protection against the predators. By a bright sunny day of August 2009, this anemofish is a proof that life can be a bed of (red) roses...

Bio photographer: Alexandre Gries was born in 1971 near Paris, France. He started learning scuba diving at age 14 and, since then, has kept on diving regularly, ultimately becoming an instructor a few years later. After having tasted the joys of teaching and passing on to his students his passion for nature, he discovered in the early 2000s the pleasure of underwater photography. He found himself fascinated by this photo speciality and eventually became an awarded and professional underwater photographer.
